Welcome to another development update for Verity, the first sustainable finance platform. According to the calendar, Spring is a mere 10 days away…which certainly betrays the snow falling outside right now! Regardless, we hope everyone is well and looking forward to enjoying warmer weather soon. The last few weeks have been busy ones at Verity, with dozens of new organizations joining to share their research, expertise, and to engage with others! Some of these organizations have joined through their participation in coalitions on the platform…which just so happens to be the focus of today’s development update!

We will delve into the profiles of organizations on Verity soon in a separate platform newsletter, but if you are conducting research on a particular issue and need some guidance on who to reach out to, please let us know. Also, if you are a user of Verity and would like to setup a profile or coalition for your organization, again, reach out!

Let’s get started!

❓What are coalitions on Verity?

Quite simply, coalitions on Verity are private, members-only spaces with tools to coordinate activity amongst groups of people. This includes: project management, research creation, resource management, event planning, members dialog, or a staging environment for collaborative engagements. Very often this coordinated activity is directed towards taking action on research found on Verity, however the objectives of coalitions may differ based upon their membership.

? What kind of coalitions are on Verity?

Verity’s Coalition Management Solution is a flexible logistics tool that can be leveraged for a variety of different use cases. A couple examples currently found on Verity:

Traditional Coalition – these are coalitions created outside of Verity that leverage our solutions to facilitate coordinated activity. The activities often relate to acting upon research that the coalition’s “parent” organization has produced. Verity’s Coalition Management Solution integrates with our Holistic Analysis and Engagement Management Solutions to support every aspect of this type of coalition activity.

Hub – another common implementation is a “hub”. In this incarnation an organization utilizes the Coalition Management Solution to add an “engagement” dimension to their ESG/Financial service. This allows for a clear and productive line of communication with their clients. We have seen this with ESG services and sub-advisors that recognize the importance of coupling an engagement strategy with their existing investment management service/funds.

In no way are coalitions limited to the above. A few other suggested use cases include:

Stakeholder Community – corporations that wish to maintain a proactive profile with relevant stakeholders can create a community that is effectively a custom channel for ongoing dialog. Integration with our Engagement Management Solution can create private engagements when necessary.

Thematic Coalition – users on Verity that wish to research or engage on a specific theme may create a coalition focused on addressing it. Individual engagements related to the theme can be created by integrating with our Engagement Management Solution.

Regional Constituencies – government branches on Verity that wish to maintain an ongoing dialog with their constituents may do so with a coalition.

?️ How to create and manage a coalition on Verity

Coalition creation is currently handled by Verity, however very soon any user will be able to build their own via Verity’s coalition administration tools. These same tools are also used to manage profile elements and membership. To access these tools, simply go to your initials in the upper-right corner of the screen, select “Administration”, and then “Coalition Profile”.
